The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is a known quantity around these parts, mainly because of its positively monstrous supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. All of that power is sent to the rear wheels which will quickly turn into a smoky mess if you want to do some glorious burnouts.
While we always thought that the Charger SRT Hellcat had muscle car good looks, the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody makes this hulking sedan look downright devilish. The widebody fenders are 3.5 inches wider both up front and out back and are standard on all 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat models. With those wider fenders comes wider wheels and tires -- the wheels measure 20 inches by 11 inches and are shod with Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires.
Stopping this absolutely massive sedan (it weighs just under 4,600 pounds) is the responsibility of six-piston Brembo front calipers along with two-piece front rotors. Four-piston rear calipers are found out back. Compared to the non-widebody 2019 model, Fiat-Chrysler says that the 2020 model stops 4 feet shorter from 60 mph (107 feet).
Of course, what everyone wants to know is how well will this monster haul ass? Well, 0-60 time is listed at 3.6 seconds, which is crazy fast for something this large. The 1/4-mile dash whizzes by in just 10.96 seconds and the vehicle can amazingly pull 0.96g on the skidpad. As for top speed, the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody will accelerate all way up to its drag limited top speed of 196mph.
For those that don't need 707 horsepower -- and let's face it, no one really does on public roads -- the 2020 Charger R/T Scat Pack will be available with the Widebody fenders as an option. The 2020 Charger R/T Scat Pack comes with a naturally-aspirated Hemi engine thumping out a still healthy 485 horsepower. Both the Hellcat and the Skat Pack send power to the rear wheels with an 8-speed automatic transmission (TorqueFlite 8HP90 on the former, TorqueFlite 8HP70 on the latter).
According to Fiat-Chrysler, orders for the new widebody challengers will one later the year with delivery set for early 2020. Pricing has not yet been announced at this time.
