NVIDIA RTX Titan Teased As Ultimate Turing Ray-Tracing Beast GPU

It seems NVIDIA is collaborating with several social media influencers to drum up excitement about an unreleased and unannounced product—the Titan RTX. This card is very real, and it's being teased on various spots on the web, albeit without any concrete details such as specs and pricing. A launch can't be far behind, though.
One thing we can say for certain about the upcoming Titan RTX is that it will feature dedicated hardware—RT cores—to handle real-time ray tracing.chores. This is the staple feature of Turing as already found in NVIDIA's GeForce RTX series—GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GeForce RTX 2080, and GeForce RTX 2070.
We know the card exists because it's started making brief appearances on the web. Linus at Linus Tech Tips, for example, displayed the Titan RTX's packaging for brief moments in a recent video at the 30:34 and 34:06 marks, which he feigned as an accident both times—he pretended he was reaching for a Seasonic power supply, only to grab the Titan RTX box instead.
That's not the only place the Titan RTX has made an appearance though. Gavin Free from the popular YouTube channel The Slow Mo Guys posted an image on Instagram that shows the Titan RTX installed in his PC. Likewise, Andrew Ng, an AI expert who co-founded Google Brain, posted a Titan RTX picture on Twitter (shown above).

It's very unlikely that any of these social media bigwigs have broken NVIDIA's NDA (non-disclosure agreement), and that this is part of a unique (and strategic) marketing campaign. So for now, we have to speculate.

Previous leaks pegged the Titan RTX as featuring the full Turing TU102 GPU with 4,608 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6 memory. How does that stack up with the GeForce RTX series? Here's a look:

  • Titan RTX: 4,608 CUDA cores, 12GB GDDR6 memory, 72 RT cores?
  • GeForce RTX 2080 Ti: 4,352 CUDA cores, 11GB GDDR6 memory, 68 RT cores
  • GeForce RTX 2080: 2,944 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 memory, 46 RT cores
  • GeForce RTX 2070: 2,304 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 memory, 36 RT cores

A full TU102 GPU is supposed to have 72 RT cores, so we assume that will be the case with the RTX Titan. How the performance stacks up against the GeForce RTX series, and in particular the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, remains to be seen.
