Samsung Galaxy A70 Mid-Range Phone Brings Flagship Features And 32MP Selfie Cam

Samsung Galaxy A70
If you are interested in owning the best Android phone on the market, Samsung's Galaxy S10 lineup deserves strong consideration, and especially the Galaxy S10+. The caveat, of course, is price—the Galaxy S10+ starts at a grand. What if you are not interested in plunking down that kind of cash for a smartphone? Well, Samsung's new Galaxy A70 will undoubtedly cost far less, while still serving up some high-end features.

Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet announced a price for the Galaxy A70, so it's impossible to make a judgement on the value proposition. However, it's a mid-range phone for active users, with some compelling bullet points.

To start with, the Galaxy A70 boasts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity U display, with a 2400x1800 resolution and on-display fingerprint sensor. Instead of a punch-hole design as found on the Galaxy S10 series, Samsung went with a teardrop notch similar to what was found on the Essential Phone, to house the front 32-megapixel (f/2.0) selife cam. That's not a typo, folks.

Users will also find a 32-megapixel (f/1.7) main camera on the rear of the device, along with an ultra-wide 8-megapixel (f/2.2) camera and a 5-megapixel (f/2.2) depth sensor. And of course there is the usual assortment of software to leverage all of these camera sensors.

"Make the most of your snaps with the Galaxy A70’s Scene Optimizer that can recognize and intuitively enhance up to 20 scenes, bringing out the best in what it sees. And with Flaw Detection that automatically identifies glitches before you click, you’ll never miss the perfect shot," Samsung says.

All of this is powered by an octa-core processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage flanked by a microSD card slot. It also has a capacious 4,500 mAh battery and "Super Fast Charging" at 25W, wrapped in Android 9.0 Pie.

As for that all important pricing info, Samsung will reveal all during a press event on April 10.
