We're just a few weeks away from the launch of Samsung Galaxy S20 family of smartphones, and we're getting our best look yet today at the flagship of the family: the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. [Alleged] renders of the smartphone have been discovered and they largely lineup with the leaks that we've been seeing over the past few months.
The leak comes courtesy of Ishan Agarwal and 91mobiles, and we can see right off the bat that the Galaxy S10 Ultra 5G features 2.5D glass up front. This is a departure from previous Galaxy "S" smartphones that feature a more dramatic curve along the edge of the screen. Instead, the display is more akin to what we seen in the Galaxy S10e.
Also visible from the front is the single selfie camera, which reportedly has a 40MP sensor. As for the display itself, it is said to measure 6.9 inches and will have a resolution of 3200x1440. One added perk is that the display will support a 120Hz refresh rate, although reports suggest that it will default to 60Hz out of the box.
Out back is where we see more dramatic changes, starting with the large, rectangular camera pod. The pod sticks out quite a bit from the back of the smartphone and houses four sensors. There's a 108MP primary sensor, a 48MP telephoto sensor, 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 3D time-of-flight sensor. The latter will be likely be used for augmented reality applications and improving portrait photography. The telephoto lens has 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, hence the “Space Zoom” label on the back of the phone beside the periscope zoom lens.
For the U.S. market, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with a Snapdragon X55 5G modem. 16GB of RAM will be onboard and we’re looking at up to 512GB of storage. There’s also said to be a massive 5,000 mAh battery to keep the potent SoC and 5G modem fueled through your workday.
Samsung is set to officially unveil its Galaxy S20 family at an Unpacked event on February 11th.
