As if the Nintendo Switch wasn’t already hard enough to come by months after its official North American launch, there’s a new SKU that will soon be arriving in the United States. Joining the existing grey and neon red/neon blue Nintendo Switch consoles editions will be a new Splatoon 2 Bundle.
We first learned about the Nintendo Switch Splatoon 2 bundle in May, but at the time it was only earmarked for Europe and Japan. However, the bundle will arrive in the United States on September 8th complete with the exclusive neon green/neon pink Joy-Con controllers. As you might expect, the bundle comes with a full copy of the highly acclaimed Splatoon 2, and will also include a Splatoon 2-themed carrying case.
There’s also this rather curious language in the press release, which states that the bundle, “offers fans in North America their first chance to get their hands on that Joy-Con color combination.” That seems to suggest that the wacky-colored controllers will be available to purchase separately at some point in the future.
“This exclusive Walmart bundle gives people who have been waiting to buy a Nintendo Switch a great value and incentive to get splatting,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
While this exclusivity agreement may mean good news for Walmart, it likely will bring additional annoyances for gamers. The Switch is already in short supply, and adding another model that is only available from a single retailer will make this Splatoon 2 bundle even harder to obtain.
The Nintendo Switch Splatoon 2 bundle will be priced at $379.99 when it arrives next month. For comparison, the standard Nintendo Switch costs $299.99.
